Concord Singers
In 2007 Concord commissioned new Christmas carols from 7 composers which were performed in a very successful concert in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in St Paul's Church, Bedford, on December 22nd 2007. In May 2008 Concord produced a second CD to include the first recording of these and other carols by our commissioned composers and also several attractive carol settings by Victor Bainbridge who made many successful arrangements for the choir in the 1980s.
The commissioned composers were:- Chris Allen, Peter Aston, John Bertalot, Cecilia McDowall, John Paynter, Michael Rose and Richard Shephard.
The first performances of these carols were dedicated to the memory of Mike Lock, who was a driving force for the commissions and a long-standing member of the choir.
